INTENDED USE

BacterPlate™ Mueller Hinton Agar with 4% NaCl is designed for testing antibiotic susceptibility or MIC strips with Oxacillin on Staphylococcus aureus.
The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.

PRINCIPLES

BacterPlate™ Mueller Hinton Agar with 4% NaCl provides a nutrient-rich environment optimized for the growth and testing of salt-tolerant microorganisms:
- Mueller Hinton Base: Supplies essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals for bacterial growth.
- 4% Sodium Chloride (NaCl): Creates a high-salt environment to mimic selective conditions, supporting salt-tolerant organisms like MRSA while inhibiting less tolerant species.
This medium ensures accurate and reliable susceptibility testing for salt-tolerant pathogens under standardized conditions.

Allow to warm to room temperature before inoculation, dry the plates in an incubator with the covers partially removed
Inoculate test samples from the enrichment medium onto the surface of the agar plates.
Incubate the inoculated plates under aerobic conditions at 35 – 37 °C for 18 – 24 hours.

RESULTS

Measure the inhibition zones.
Refer to the table for interpreting inhibition zones furnished by the suppliers of antibiotic disks in order to establish the correlation between the inhibition zone and the minimal inhibitory concentration (M.I.C.)
