INTENDED USE
- BacterChrom™ Staph aureus Agar is a selective chromogenic medium designed for the direct qualitative detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of Staphylococcus aureus from swabs of teguments, wounds, or soft tissue specimens.
- The medium may also serve as an early warning indicator in diagnostic testing for infections, highlighting the possible presence of S. aureus. Concomitant cultures are recommended for recovering organisms for further microbiological testing or epidemiological typing. Additionally, BacterChrom™ Staph aureus Agar is applicable for detecting S. aureus in food products, animal feed, and environmental samples.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterChrom™ Staph aureus Agar employs chromogenic substrates that enable differentiation of target microorganisms based on colony color. Selective agents in the medium suppress non-target organisms, ensuring specificity. The chromogenic system highlights enzymatic activity unique to S. aureus, allowing for rapid and clear visual identification.
