INTENDED USE
- BacterChrom™ MRSA Agar is a selectve and diferental chromogenic medium for the qualitatve direct detecton of colonizaton by methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) to aid in the preventon and control of MRSA in healthcare setngs.
- BacterChrom™ MRSA Agar is not intended to diagnose, guide, nor monitor therapy for MRSA infectons, nor provide results of susceptbility to methicillin. A lack of growth or the absence of pink colonies on CHROMagar™ MRSA does not preclude the presence of MRSA. Further identfcaton, susceptbility testng, and epidemiological typing is needed on suspect colonies.
- BacterChrom™ MRSA Agar can also be used in conjuncton with other laboratory tests and clinical data available to aid in the identfcaton and in the diagnosis of MRSA infectons in skin, sof tssue, wounds and positve blood cultures. Concomitant cultures are necessary to recover organisms for further microbiological susceptbility testng or epidemiological typing.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
RESULTS
- BacterChrom™ MRSA Agar contains selective agents that suppress the growth of non-MRSA bacteria, ensuring high specificity. Chromogenic substrates in the medium interact with enzymes produced by MRSA, leading to the development of distinct colony colors. This allows for easy differentiation and identification of MRSA colonies. The medium enhances sensitivity while maintaining reliable specificity.
