INTENDED USE
- BacterChrom™ Enterobacteria is a selective chromogenic medium designed for the detection, enumeration, and differentiation of Enterobacteriaceae in food, environmental, and industrial samples. It is widely used in food safety testing and quality control, helping to identify contamination at various stages of the production process.
- This medium is intended for laboratory use and should be operated under appropriate conditions by trained personnel. It is not suitable for clinical diagnostic use.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterChrom™ Enterobacteria utilizes chromogenic substrates that react with specific enzymatic activities of Enterobacteriaceae. These reactions result in distinct colony colors that allow for differentiation among species:
- Escherichia coli produces blue colonies, with or without a blue halo.
- Other Enterobacteriaceae appear pink to red.
- Non-target Gram-positive bacteria are inhibited, while most other Gram-negative bacteria are suppressed.
- The selective agents incorporated in the medium ensure specificity by suppressing non-target organisms, allowing for clear and accurate identification
