INTENDED USE
- BacterChrom™ Orientation Agar is a non-selective chromogenic culture medium intended for use in the qualitative direct detection, differentiation and presumptive identification of uropathogens to aid in the diagnosis of urine tract infections. The test is performed with urine samples. Results can be interpreted after 18-24 h of aerobic incubation at 35-37 °C. A lack of growth or the absence of colonies on BacterChrom™ Orientation Agar does not preclude the presence of bacteria.
- BacterChrom™ Orientation Agar is not intended to diagnose infection nor to guide nor monitor treatment for infections.
- BacterChrom™ Orientation Agar can also be used with veterinary samples.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterChrom™ Orientation Agar utilizes a combination of chromogenic substrates and selective agents to differentiate and identify pathogens based on the specific enzymatic activity of the bacteria. Each species or group of species produces distinct colony colors, allowing rapid and accurate identification directly from urine samples. Selective agents suppress the growth of non-target organisms, improving specificity.
