INTENDED USE
- BacterPlate™ BAYK Agar is a specialized nutrient medium designed for the isolation and qualitative cultivation of anaerobic microorganisms, including difficult-to-culture and slow-growing strains.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterPlate™ BAYK Agar is formulated by incorporating defibrinated sheep or horse blood into a Columbia agar base, creating a nutrient-rich environment for the growth of anaerobic microorganisms. The blood components provide essential growth factors and nutrients, enhancing the recovery of fastidious and slow-growing anaerobic bacteria while enabling the observation of hemolytic reactions.
- The medium’s robust nutrient profile and reduced oxygen conditions support the isolation and cultivation of anaerobic microorganisms, facilitating their detection, identification, and characterization. This makes BAYK Agar an indispensable tool in clinical microbiology for understanding infection processes and diagnosing anaerobic-related clinical conditions.
