He combined Congo red and malachite green to inhibit unwanted bacterial species. The current formulation is based on Jensen&#8217;s improvements, and this medium uses an egg-based glycerol suspension. Jensen&#8217;s version removes Congo red and uses a moderate concentration of malachite green to inhibit the growth of most microorganisms remaining after sample decontamination. This formulation also promotes the earliest growth of <em>mycobacteria<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>L-Asparagine and Potato Flour serve as sources of nitrogen and vitamins. Monopotassium Phosphate and Magnesium Sulfate enhance microbial growth while acting as a buffering system. Malachite green inhibits the growth of most microorganisms present on the sample while supporting the growth of <em>Mycobacteria<\/em>. Egg Suspension provides fatty acids and proteins required for <em>mycobacteria<\/em> metabolism. When warmed, albumin in the egg coagulates, thus providing a solid surface for culturing.
