INTENDED USE
- TraceMedia™ Chocolate Agar + Bacitracin is a prepared 90mm agar plate used for selective cultivation of Haemophilus influenzae. It is employed for culturing respiratory specimens.
PRINCIPLE
- Special peptone provides essential nutrients, and sodium chloride acts as a pH buffer while starch neutralizes toxic fatty acids that may be present in the agar.
- Isovitalex is a supplement providing factor V (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD) for Haemophilus species.
- Bacitracin is a polypeptide antibiotic that inhibits gram-positive bacteria, Neisseria, and Haemophilus spp.
READING THE RESULTS
- After incubation for the required time, observe the growth of colonies on the surface of the agar plate and their characteristics.
- Further identification of isolated bacteria must be conducted through appropriate tests.
- Samples related will be directly inoculated onto the agar plate.
- If the agar plate has been refrigerated, allow it to warm up to room temperature before inoculating the samples.
- Inoculate the samples onto the agar plate.
- Incubate the samples at 35 – 37°C, 5% CO2 for 16 – 24 hours.
BacterLab assesses the quality of each product batch using standard strains from ATCC.
