INTENDED USE
- TraceMedia™ Plate Count Agar is used for counting bacteria and determining the total number of aerobic bacteria in a sample.
PRINCIPLE
- TraceMedia™ Plate Count Agar contains Tryptone, which provides amino acids, nitrogen, carbon, vitamins, and minerals necessary for the growth of microorganisms. It also contains Yeast extract, which mainly supplies B-complex vitamins, and glucose, a carbohydrate that can be fermented and serves as an energy source for microbial growth.
RESULTS
- After incubation for the required time, observe the development and characteristics of colonies on the surface of the agar plate.
- To identify the isolated bacteria specifically, appropriate tests must be conducted subsequently.
The relevant samples are directly inoculated onto the agar plates.
- If the agar plates have been refrigerated, allow them to warm up to room temperature before inoculating the samples.
- Inoculate the samples onto the agar plates.
- Incubate the plates in an aerobic condition at 35 – 37°C for 16 – 24 hours.
