INTENDED USE

SpongesCollect™ Polyurethane Neutralizing Buffer, 10 mL is designed to collect microorganisms from surfaces in food processing, healthcare, and pharmaceutical environments. The primary purpose of this product is to assist in collecting microbial samples from surfaces, equipment, and surrounding areas in food production facilities. Neutralizing Buffer helps neutralize the effects of residual sanitizing agents on surfaces, ensuring that microorganisms are not affected during transport and analysis.

PRINCIPLES

SpongesCollect™ Polyurethane Neutralizing Buffer, 10 mL uses a biocide-free polyurethane sponge combined with 10 mL of Neutralizing Buffer collect microorganisms from surfaces. The Neutralizing Buffer neutralizes residual sanitizing agents, such as chlorine, quaternary ammonium compounds, iodine, and phenolic, protecting microorganisms from the effects of these substances. However, unlike nutrient media, Neutralizing Buffer does not provide nutrients for microorganism growth. Therefore, this solution only serves to neutralize and does not support microbial growth, helping maintain the viability of microorganisms throughout transport without altering the sample’s characteristics.

Inspect the SpongesCollect™ product to ensure there is no damage or contamination during storage.
Write sample information on the provided label attached to the product packaging.
Tear the bag along the pre-marked perforated line.
Push the sponge near the edge of the bag so that part of the sponge is exposed for easy handling. Hold the sponge from the outside of the bag and carefully remove it directly by hand, making sure not to touch the inside surface of the bag to avoid contamination.
Rub the SpongesCollect™ sponge on the area to be sampled.
After sampling, return the sponge to the bag. Ensure the sponge does not fall out and avoid direct contact with the outer surface of the packaging.
Use the provided tie to seal the SpongesCollect™ bag by rolling the top of the bag and tightly twisting the tie inside the bag.
The sample must be sent to the laboratory as soon as possible to prevent changes in microbial characteristics. The transportation process should comply with sample storage regulations.

SpongesCollect™ Polyurethane Neutralizing Buffer, 10 mLis produced in a closed environment, adhering to strict hygiene regulations. The polyurethane sponge is biocide-free and sterilized using gamma irradiation, ensuring no contaminants affect the sample quality.
