INTENDED USE

BacterChrom™ Listeria is a selective chromogenic medium designed for the detection, isolation, and enumeration of Listeria monocytogenes. It is intended for use in food and environmental testing, particularly in food processing facilities, to monitor contamination across various stages of the production chain, from raw materials to end products.
This medium is primarily intended for research and quality control purposes to enhance food safety protocols by identifying contamination source
The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.

PRINCIPLES

BacterChrom™ Listeria contains chromogenic substrates that react with specific enzymatic activities of Listeria monocytogenes, resulting in blue colonies with white halos for easy differentiation. Selective agents incorporated into the medium inhibit the growth of non-target organisms, ensuring high specificity and accuracy during the detection process. This simplifies workflows for presumptive identification in food and environmental microbiology.

Allow to warm to room temperature before inoculation, dry the plates in an incubator with the covers partially removed.
For the Detection of Presence / Absence of L. monocytogenes in all human food products and environmental samples.
- Mix sample with Fraser 1/2 broth (1:9) and incubate at 30°C for 24 ± 2 hours.
- Spread 0.1 mL of the enriched sample onto a well-dried BacterChrom™ Listeria
- Incubate at 37°C for 24 ± 2 hours
For Enumeration of L. monocytogenes in all human food products and environmental samples
- Mix x g or x mL of the sample with 9x BPW or non-selective half Fraser broth. Incubate for 1 hour ± 5 minutes at 20°C ± 1°C.
- Spread 0.1 mL of the enriched sample onto a well-dried BacterChrom™ Listeria
- Incubate for 48 hours ± 2 hours at 37°C ± 1°C
