INTENDED USE
- BacterChrom™ Mycoplasma is a selective and chromogenic culture medium designed for the detection and differentiation of Mycoplasma bovis in samples such as nasal swabs and broncho-alveolar lavage. The medium aids in the diagnosis of bovine infections caused by M. bovis, which may present as pneumonia, arthritis, mastitis, or keratoconjunctivitis.
- This medium is primarily used in veterinary diagnostic laboratories and research environments.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterChrom™ Mycoplasma utilizes chromogenic substrates that interact with specific enzymatic activities of M. bovis. Colonies of M. bovis are easily identifiable by their red coloration and characteristic “fried egg” morphology under a binocular loupe after 3–7 days of incubation at 37 °C in a CO₂ atmosphere. The medium also incorporates selective agents to inhibit the growth of non-target microorganisms, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and molds. These features ensure high specificity, simplifying the identification process and supporting rapid and reliable diagnostic workflows.
