INTENDED USE
- BacterTube™ BHI with Gentamycin is a non-selective enrichment medium that supports the growth of all bacteria, including Haemophilus influenzae. It is designed to promote the growth of a wide range of microorganisms, without inhibiting any specific bacterial species.
PRINCIPLES
- The medium is enriched with nutrients that facilitate the growth of a variety of microorganisms, particularly those that require specific growth factors. The addition of Gentamicin helps inhibit the growth of certain unwanted bacteria, ensuring a more selective culture environment for the target organisms.
- Directly inoculate the specimen or sample into the medium.
- Incubate at 35 – 37°C for 4 – 8 hours.
- Perform subculturing on specialized agar plates containing selective media and incubate under appropriate conditions
RESULTS
- Positive Test: A positive result is indicated by the formation of a mass within 24 hours.
- Negative Test: A negative result is indicated when no mass is formed after 24 hours.
BacterLab ensures the quality of each product batch by testing with ATCC reference strains.
| Reference strains | Incubation conditions | Expected results |
| H. influenzae ATCC 49766 | 12 – 24 hours, 35 – 37°C, 5% CO2 | Growth and form a mass |
