INTENDED USE
BacterBag™ Dry Maximum Recovery Diluent is a high-quality dry medium, packaged in a transparent, lightweight, and convenient plastic bag, designed to simplify the preparation steps in microbiological culturing processes. Each Maximum Recovery Diluent, when supplemented with sterile distilled water, produces 20L of complete medium, ready to use without complex preparation
This medium is a protective and isotonic medium used for maximal recovery of microorganisms from a variety of sources.

PRINCIPLES
BacterBag™ Dry Maximum Recovery Diluent is formulated as recommended by ISO Committee for use as an isotonic diluent. Standard methods for the examination of foodstuffs require sample dilution to be carried out accurately to estimate the number of microorganisms. Maximum Recovery Diluent combines protective effect of Peptone with the osmotic balance of physiological saline. The low concentration of Peptone helps to maintain the organisms for 1 – 2 hours of dilution without multiplication. The isotonic property of the diluent ensures the recovery of organisms from various sources, which may be vulnerable in distilled water or aqueous suspensions.
Preparation of stock solution
- Add Xg or XmL of product for analysis to BacterBag™ Dry Maximum Recovery Diluent medium to make a 1:10 dilution.
- Mix well.
Preparation of serial dilutions
- Add 1 mL of stock suspension to a tube containing 9 mL of Dry BacterBag™ Maximum Recovery Diluent.
- Mix well.
- Repeat the operation until the desired dilution concentration is reached.
