INTENDED USE

BacterChrom™ COL-APSE Agar is a selective and differential chromogenic culture medium, intended for use in the qualitative direct detection of gastrointestinal colonization with colistin-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (COL-R) to aid in the prevention and control of COL-R in healthcare settings.Additionally, the medium can act as an early warning indicator in diagnostic testing, highlighting the possible presence of COL-R bacteria. It can also be used in food, animal feed, livestock, and environmental sample analyses.
The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.

PRINCIPLES

BacterChrom™ COL-APSE Agar utilizes chromogenic substrates and selective agents to differentiate colistin-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. The chromogenic components react with specific enzymatic activities, producing distinct colony appearances for easy presumptive identification. Selective agents suppress non-target organisms, ensuring specificity and enhancing the accuracy of detection.

Allow to warm to room temperature before inoculation, dry the plates in an incubator with the covers partially removed.
Direct streaking sample onto the plate
Incubate in aerobic conditions at 35 – 37 °C for 18 – 24 hours
