INTENDED USE
- BacterTube™ Nutrient Broth is a basic, nutrient-rich culture medium suitable for cultivating most types of bacteria without any special growth requirements. Due to this function, the medium is commonly used for general purposes such as storing and preserving strains, as well as for sterility testing.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterTube™ Nutrient Broth is a mixture of tryptone and meat extract, which helps support the growth of microorganisms. Sodium chloride is added to balance the osmotic pressure of the medium.
- Prior to inoculation, allow medium to equilibrate to room temperature
- Use a sterile inoculation loop to transfer a sample from an isolated colony on the agar plate into the test tube containing the medium.
- Incubate the tube at 35 ± 2°C.
- Examine the tube after 18 – 24 hours of incubation.
- Observe and record the results
RESULTS
- After incubation for the required time, usually 18-24 hours, observe the colony growth within the medium.
- To identify the isolated bacterium, further appropriate tests must be carried out.
