INTENDED USE
- BacterTube™ Sabouraud Dextrose Broth (SDB) is recommended for the detection of Candida albicans in non-sterile products according to the Pharmacopoeia. It is also used as a nutrient medium for the growth of yeasts and molds. The typical composition meets the requirements of the European and United States Pharmacopoeia.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterTube™ Sabouraud Dextrose Broth (SDB) with ingredients such as meat extract and casein, which provide nitrogen and carbohydrates, it serves as a factor for the growth of yeasts, molds, and acidophilic bacteria. Glucose is the energy source.
- According to the Pharmacopoeia, transfer 1 mL of the sample for testing and its serial dilutions into 10 mL of Sabouraud Dextrose Broth.
- Incubate at 30 – 35°C for 3 to 5 days.
- Subculture onto Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) and incubate for 24 to 48 hours at 30 – 35°C.
Note:
- Types of yeasts and molds, incubate at 20 – 25°C for 2 to 3 days.
RESULTS
- Observe the results by the growth indicated by the turbidity of the inoculated medium.
