- INTENDED USE
BacterTest™ KCl is used to prepare blood lymphocyte chromosomes.
- PRINCIPLES
BacterTest™ KCl is mainly used in the field of cytogenetics, especially for the preparation of blood lymphocyte chromosomes for applications such as karyotyping and FISH. This solution is hypotonic, which helps the cells swell, separating the chromosomes for easier observation.
- Sample preparation: Blood lymphocytes are taken and placed in 0.075 M KCl solution.
- Hypotonic effect: Due to the lower salt concentration inside the cells, water will move into the lymphocytes, causing them to swell.
- Preparation for analysis: This swelling helps separate the chromosomes from each other, making it easier for researchers to observe and analyze the cell genome in detail..
