INTENDED USE
- BacterTube™ BHI Broth is a buffered nutrient medium designed for the culture of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms, including yeasts and molds. It is also used for the detection of staphylocoagulase and complies with NF EN ISO 6888-1, NF EN ISO 6888-3, and NF V08-057-1 standards in food microbiology.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterTube™ BHI Broth derived from the Rosenow formula (1919), contains:
- Pork brain-heart infusion: Rich in nutritive compounds to support fastidious bacterial growth.
- Gelatin digest: Supplies amino acids and peptides.
- Sodium chloride: Maintains osmotic balance.
- Disodium phosphate: Buffers pH stability.
- Glucose: Provides an energy source to enhance growth
Confirmation of Coagulase-Positive Staphylococci (NF EN ISO 6888-1 & 3):
- Re-isolate a characteristic colony into a BacterTube™ BHI Broth.
- Incubate at 35 – 37°C for 24 hours.
- Proceed with the coagulase tube test using Coagulase Rabbit Plasma
BacterLab ensures the quality of each product batch by testing with ATCC reference strains.
