INTENDED USE
- BacterChrom™ AOLA is a selective chromogenic medium designed for the detection, enumeration, and isolation of Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria spp. It is widely used in food safety testing and quality control to detect contamination in raw materials and food products.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterChrom™ AOLA utilizes a nutrient-rich base and chromogenic substrates to support the growth and differentiation of Listeria spp.:
- Peptones and Yeast Extract: Provide essential nutrients for microbial growth.
- Chromogenic Mix: Enables differentiation of Listeria monocytogenes through blue colonies with a white halo and innocua as blue colonies without a halo.
- Selective Agents: Suppress competing microorganisms, enhancing specificity.
- This medium supports the reliable detection of Listeria spp., facilitating targeted identification and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Allow to warm to room temperature before inoculation, dry the plates in an incubator with the covers partially removed.
- Streak samples directly onto plates
- Incubate in aerobic conditions at 37°C for 24h ± 2h. If suspected colonies of monocytogenes or Listeria spp. are not visible at 24h, continue incubation until 48h ± 2h.
