BacterChrom™ Acinetobacter Plates

INTENDED USE

BacterChrom™ Acinetobacter is a selective and differential chromogenic culture medium intended for the direct qualitative detection of Acinetobacter colonization. This medium aids in infection prevention and control by screening samples such as rectal swabs, nare swabs, wound swabs, stool, and urine from patients in healthcare settings. It can also be utilized for surface sampling to monitor hygiene in clinical environments.The medium also serves as an early warning indicator for diagnostic tests by identifying the possible presence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria.
The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.

PRINCIPLES

BacterChrom™ Acinetobacter employs chromogenic substrates that react with specific enzymatic activities of Acinetobacter species, producing distinct colony colors for easy identification. The medium contains selective agents that suppress the growth of non-target organisms, ensuring specificity and minimizing background interference. When combined with the optional MDR selective supplement, the medium enhances the detection of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter strains.

Allow to warm to room temperature before inoculation, dry the plates in an incubator with the covers partially removed.
Direct streaking sample onto the plate
Incubate at 35 – 37 °C for 18 – 24 hours in aerobic conditions.
