INTENDED USE
- BacterPlate™ Malt Extract Agar is used for the enumeration of yeasts and molds. It can also be used for the isolation and maintenance of strains.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- Malt extract is rich in carbohydrates. In an acid medium, it supplies all the nutritive elements required for the metabolism of yeasts and molds. In addition, the acidity of the medium inhibits most contaminating bacteria.
- Allow the agar plates to reach room temperature. Dry the plates in an incubator by slightly opening the lid.
- Inoculate by streaking with the aid of a sterile loop onto the surface of the agar.
- Incubate at 25°C up to 3 days
RESULTS
- Count yeast and molds separately.
BacterLab ensures the quality of each product batch by testing with ATCC reference strains.
