INTENDED USE
  • TraceMedia™ Chocolate Agar is a suitable culture medium for difficult-to-grow bacteria such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, and Haemophilus spp. It is used for isolating infectious agents from cerebrospinal fluid or other sterile specimens.
PRINCIPL
  • TraceMedia™ Chocolate Agar is horse blood agar (heated blood agar).
  • The heated blood causes the medium to turn brown and release factors X (Hemin) and V (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD) essential for the growth of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, and Haemophilus spp.
READING THE RESULTS
  • After incubation for the required time, observe the growth of colonies on the surface of the plate and their characteristics.
  • Further identification of isolated bacteria must be conducted through appropriate tests.

1. Samples related to the study are directly inoculated onto the agar plate.
2. If the agar plate has been refrigerated, allow it to warm up to room temperature before inoculating the samples.
3. Inoculate the samples onto the agar plate.
4. Incubate at 35 – 37°C, 5% CO2 for 16 – 24 hours.

Special peptone 23 g
Starch 1g
Sodium chloride 5g
Agar 10 g
Horse blood 5-7%
pH of the complete medium at 25°C: 7.3 ± 0.2
