INTENDED USE
- BacterChrom™ Candida Plus Agar is a selective chromogenic culture medium intended for use in the qualitative direct detection, differentiation and presumptive identification of Candida species including C. auris.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterChrom™ Candida Plus Agar is designed to distinguish microorganisms based on specific enzymatic activities that generate unique colony colors. This differentiation allows for easy visual identification and classification of various species. The medium selectively inhibits unwanted growth while promoting the development of target microorganisms, ensuring high specificity and reducing background interference.
- Allow to warm to room temperature before inoculation, dry the plates in an incubator with the covers partially removed.
- Direct streaking sample onto the plate
- Incubate in aerobic conditions at 35 – 37°C for 24 – 48 hour
RESULTS
- Qualitative reading and interpretation of the plates:
| Microorganism | Typical colony apprearance |
| C. albicans | green-blue |
| C. auris | light blue with blue halo, blue from the back side of the plate |
| C. tropicalis | metallic blue with pink halo |
| C. krusei | pink and fuzzy |
| C. glabrata | mauve |
| Bacteria | mostly inhibited |
BacterLab ensures the quality of each product batch by testing with ATCC reference strains.
| Reference strains | Incubation conditions | Expected results |
| C. albicans ATCC 60193 | Incubate for 24 – 48 hours at 35 – 37 °C | Blue colonies |
| C. auris ATCC MYA-5001 | Light blue colonies with a blue halo | |
| C. tropicalis ATCC 1369 | Metallic blue colonies with a pink halo. | |
| C. krusei ATCC 14243 | Colonies with a light pink center | |
| C. glabrata ATCC 2001 | Light purple colonies | |
| E. coli ATCC 25922 | Inhibited |
