INTENDED USE
- BacterChrom™ Pasteurella is a selective and chromogenic medium designed for the detection, isolation, and differentiation of Pasteurellaceae bacteria, including Histophilus somni, Pasteurella multocida, and Mannheimia haemolytica. These bacteria are commonly associated with bovine respiratory disease complex and can cause significant economic losses in livestock production due to reduced growth rates, milk production declines, and animal deaths.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
- BacterChrom™ Pasteurella uses chromogenic substrates that react with specific enzymatic activities of target bacteria, producing distinct colony colors for easy differentiation. This medium enhances the rapid detection of pathogenic Pasteurellaceae while suppressing background flora, providing high specificity and facilitating the identification of bacterial infections.
- Allow to warm to room temperature before inoculation, dry the plates in an incubator with the covers partially removed.
- Direct streaking sample onto the plate
- Incubate in aerobic conditions at 37°C for 18 – 24 hours
