INTENDED USE

BacterChrom™ Streptococcus is a selective chromogenic medium designed for the isolation and differentiation of Streptococcus species. It is particularly useful in detecting environmental Streptococci, which are major mastitis pathogens causing persistent infections, high somatic cell counts, and milk contamination.
The medium supports mastitis diagnosis by enabling differentiation of species involved in udder infections. It is also effective in samples with complex bacterial flora, such as milk, where Streptococci are prevalent.
The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.

PRINCIPLES

BacterChrom™ Streptococcus utilizes chromogenic substrates that react with specific enzymatic activities of target bacteria, resulting in colonies with distinct colors for differentiation. The medium also incorporates selective agents to inhibit the growth of non-target organisms, ensuring high specificity. This combination simplifies and accelerates the identification process, supporting accurate and efficient diagnostics.

Allow to warm to room temperature before inoculation, dry the plates in an incubator with the covers partially removed.
Direct streaking sample onto the plate
Incubate in aerobic conditions at 35 – 37°C and read at 24h.
