INTENDED USE
- BacterPlate™ Two-Compartment Medium Edwardsiella / Aeromonas is a ready-to-use two-compartment agar medium designed for the detection and differentiation of Edwardsiella and Aeromonas bacteria. The product is applied in microbiological research, clinical diagnostics, and microbiological quality control of food, water, and animal-derived biological samples.
- The packaging with semi-permeable Cellophane film helps balance the humidity of the environment during storage.
PRINCIPLES
BacterPlate™ Two-Compartment Medium Edwardsiella/Aeromonas:
- Edwardsiella Compartment: This compartment contains special components that help isolate Edwardsiella bacteria, a Gram-negative bacterium that causes infections in animals, including humans. The medium stimulates the growth of Edwardsiella strains, helping differentiate them from other bacteria based on their ability to ferment various sugars and using special color indicators.
- Aeromonas Compartment: This selective medium contains specific components to isolate and identify Aeromonas strains, a Gram-negative bacterium primarily responsible for diseases in aquatic environments, causing diarrhea and septicemia. Aeromonas bacteria will grow strongly and can be differentiated from other bacteria through fermentation reactions and color indicators.
- Allow the agar plates to reach room temperature before use.
- Dry the agar plates in an incubator with the lid slightly open.
- Inoculate the sample by spreading it evenly on the surface of the agar using a sterile inoculating loop.
- Incubate at 35–37°C for 18–24 hours.
RESULTS
Edwardsiella Compartment
- Edwardsiella (+): Colonies grow well, with a characteristic color, and may show a sugar fermentation reaction, depending on the sample type.
- Edwardsiella (–): No growth or weak growth.
Aeromonas Compartment
- Aeromonas (+): Colonies grow strongly, with a characteristic color, and may show a sugar fermentation reaction.
- Aeromonas (–): No growth or weak growth.
BacterLab ensures the quality of each product batch by testing with ATCC reference strains.
